Arguably, the biggest star cast of the cinematic history has been assembled for Avengers: Endgame<\/em> \u2013 touted as the movie of the decade. This much awaited movie is set to hit the theatres on April 26, 2019. The movie is releasing in India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages and in 2D, 3D, 2D IMAX, 3D IMAX and 4DX formats. Recently Avengers: Endgame<\/em>\u2019s co-director Joe Russo and maestro musician A R Rahman launched Marvel Anthem<\/em> for Indian fans and the anthem \u201cRoke Na Rukenge Ab To Yaara<\/em>\u201d is creating quite a buzz among star struck fans.<\/p>\n

Record Breaking Advance Booking<\/strong><\/p>\n

Advance booking of Avengers: Endgame<\/em> started on April 21 in India and within hours, tickets of the first weekend were almost sold out. Given the phenomenal demand for Avengers: Endgame tickets, we don\u2019t need a Ptolemy or a Nostradamus to predict that the movie is going to shatter the box office records set by its prequel \u2013 Avengers: Infinity War<\/em>. Infinity War<\/em> had opened to 31 crores on day 1 and collected more than 100 crores in its opening weekend \u2013 a record for any Hollywood movie in India. Endgame<\/em> is reportedly eyeing 40 crores on day 1.<\/p>\n

The Cast and Crew<\/strong><\/p>\n

Avengers Endgame<\/em> is produced by Marvel Studio<\/em> and directed by Russo brothers \u2013 Anthony and Joe<\/em>. The director duo had successfully directed Marvel Studio\u2019s earlier movies – \u201cCaptain America: Winter Soldier<\/em>\u201d, \u201cCaptain America: Civil War<\/em>\u201d and \u201cAvengers: Infinity War<\/span><\/em><\/a>\u201d in the past. Avengers: Endgame<\/em> features Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark\/Iron Man<\/em>, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers\/Captain America<\/em>, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner\/Hulk<\/em>, Chris Hemsworth as Thor<\/em>, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff\/Black Widow<\/em>, Jeremy Renner as Clinit Barton\/Hawk Eye\/Ronin<\/em>, Brie Larson as Carol Danvers\/Captain Marvel<\/em>, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang\/Ant Man<\/em>, Bradley Cooper as Rocket<\/em> (voice and motion capture) and Josh Brolin as Thanos<\/em> (voice and motion capture). An exciting speculation is on that the characters who were wiped out in Avengers: Infinity War<\/em>, might also reappear in Avengers: Endgame<\/em>.<\/p>\n

What ENDGAME<\/em> stands for?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the game of chess, the final stage \u2013 where only a few pieces remain in play \u2013 is called the endgame. At the end of Avengers: Infinity War<\/em>, half of the Universe\u2019s population is turned into dust and only a few Avengers<\/em> are left, hence the title Endgame<\/em>. It also refers to Doctor Strange<\/em> statement to Tony Stark<\/em> after giving the Time Stone to Thanos<\/em> in Avengers: Infinity War<\/em> \u2013 \u201cWe\u2019re in the endgame now<\/em>\u201d. Avengers: Endgame<\/em> will also wrap up a mega story that spanned 22 movies starting with Iron Man<\/em> (2008) \u2013 the first movie of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).<\/p>\n

MCU<\/em> Timeline<\/strong><\/p>\n

This 22 movie, 48+ hour saga can be classified into three phases \u2013 Phase I consists of six movies \u2013 from Iron Man<\/em> (2008) to Avengers<\/em> (2012). The first phase movies introduced superheroes, as we saw Tony Stark<\/em> turns into Iron Man<\/em> by way of electromagnets and arc-reactors, Bruce Banner<\/em> turned into Hulk<\/em> through exposure to gamma radiations, Steve Rogers<\/em> turned into Captain America<\/em> through super-soldier serum and vita-rays and Thor<\/em> \u2013 the god of thunder – proved himself as the worthy successor of Asgard\u2019s throne. The final movie of Phase I \u2013 The Avengers<\/em> saw the misuse of Tesseract\u2019s powers by Loki<\/em> – Thor<\/em>\u2019s brother, and the assembling Avengers \u2013 Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America<\/em> and two agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. – Black Widow<\/em> and Hawk Eye<\/em> – saving the Earth from Chitauri Fleet<\/em> and ill plans of Loki<\/em>. In the end credit scene, we first saw a glimpse of Thanos<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Phase \u2013 II saw some sequels and introduction of more superheroes like Guardians of the Galaxy<\/em> and Ant-Man<\/em>. Thanos made small appearances in Guardians of the Galaxy<\/em> and Avengers: Age of Ultron<\/em>. Phase \u2013 II started with Iron Man 3<\/em> and ended with Ant-Man<\/em>. Phase \u2013 III introduced many new superheroes like Doctor Strange, Spider-man, Black Panther, Captain Marvel<\/a><\/span><\/em> and present ones \u2013 Infinity War<\/em> and Endgame<\/em>. This phase started with Captain America: Civil War<\/em> and is going to culminate with Avengers: Endgame<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Although Iron Man<\/em> (2008) was the first released MCU<\/em> movie, the MCU<\/em> timeline starts with Captain America: The First Avenger<\/em> (2011) \u2013 the fifth released MCU<\/em> movie, which depicted the events of the Second World War. Additionally, the Infinity Stones<\/em> too made their first appearance in Captain America: The First Avenger<\/em> (2011) as Tesseract, which contained Space Stone. Chronologically, Captain Marvel<\/em> (2019) comes next, where events took place in the nineties. Next in timeline is Iron Man<\/em> (2008) followed by Iron Man 2<\/em> (2010), Thor<\/em> (2011), Incredible Hulk<\/em> (2008), The Avengers<\/em> (2012) and so on.<\/p>\n

What are Infinity Stones<\/em>?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Avengers: Infinity War<\/em>, the Infinity Stones<\/em> were already explained. Just to recall, Infinity Stones<\/em> are the remnants of six singularities that existed before the Big Bang<\/em>, got compressed into six stones after the universe began, and were dispersed throughout the cosmos. Each of the Infinity Stone embodies and controls and essential aspect of existence that can only be directly used by powerful beings. The six extremely powerful Infinity Stones<\/em> are \u2013 Space Stone<\/em> (Blue), Mind Stone<\/em> (Yellow), Reality Stone<\/em> (Red), Power Stone<\/em> (Purple), Time Stone<\/em> (Green) and Soul Stone<\/em> (Orange). Doctor Strange<\/em> wears Eye of Agamotto<\/em> which contains Time Stone<\/em>. Although on their own, these stones provide great power, when combined, they form a circuit, a positive feedback loop granting the user infinite power. That\u2019s why Thanos<\/em> looks to obtain all the Infinity Stones<\/em> so that his powers become practically limitless. Since the stones are very powerful, the special glove \u2013 Infinity Gauntlet<\/em> \u2013 was created by Eitri \u2013 the dwarf of Nidavellir<\/em>. It was Eitri<\/em> who created Thor<\/em>\u2019s hammers \u2013 MjoInir<\/em> and Stormbreaker<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Who is Thanos<\/em> and how he got the Infinity Stones<\/em>?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thanos<\/em> is the King of Titan. Gamora<\/em> and Nebula<\/em> are his adopted daughters. Thanos<\/em> henchmen \u2013 Black Order\/Children of Thanos<\/em> \u2013 comprised of Cull Obsidian, Ebony Mow, Proxima Midnight<\/em> and Cornus Glaive<\/em>. In Avengers: Infinity War<\/em>, Thanos<\/em> was in search of all the six Infinity Stones<\/em> in order to have re-balance of the universe. He believed that the universe is over-populated, which led to the destruction of his planet \u2013 Titan. Thanos<\/em> forced Eitri<\/em> to prepare Infinity Gauntlet<\/em> \u2013 which can store all the six Infinity Stones<\/em>. Power stone\/Orb<\/em> was protected by Nove Corps<\/em> on planet Xander<\/em>. Thanos<\/em> obtained Power Stone<\/em> after destroying Xander<\/em>. Loki<\/em> gave Tesseract \u2013 which contained Space Stone<\/em> – to Thanos<\/em>, in order to save his brother Thor<\/em>\u2019s life. Thanos<\/em> obtained Reality Stone<\/em> from The Collector of Knowhere<\/em>. Thanos<\/em> sacrifices his daughter Gamora<\/em> over a cliff at Vormir<\/em> to get the Soul Stone<\/em>. Doctor Strange<\/em> surrenders Time Stone<\/em> to Thanos<\/em>, in order to save the life of Tony Stark<\/em>. During the deadly battle of Wakanda<\/em> though, Wanda\/Scarlet Witch<\/em> destroys the Mind Stone<\/em> – residing there in the forehead of Vision<\/em>. Thanos<\/em> used Time Stone<\/em> to turn back the time and repair the stone – ripping the Mind Stone<\/em> out of Vision<\/em>\u2019s head- and completed the Infinity Gauntlet<\/em> with all six stones, to fulfil his lifelong mission \u2013 wiping out half of the universe\u2019s population.<\/p>\n

What to expect from Endgame<\/em>?<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the catastrophic events of Avengers: Infinity war<\/em> where Thanos<\/em> succeeded in his nefarious mission, the remaining Avengers<\/em> team will have to devise a strategy to once again fight Thanos in order to save whatever is left there. The trailers and TV Clips haven\u2019t revealed much about the storyline. We have seen in Endgame<\/em> trailers that Thanos<\/em> has hung his armour, Tony Stark<\/em> is stuck there in space, remaining Avengers<\/em> are teaming up, and Captain Marvel<\/em> and Ant-Man<\/em> are set to join the Avengers<\/em> team. The new suits of Avengers<\/em> team are speculated to be useful for Quantum Realm<\/em> travel\/time travel. What we have inferred from the trailers is that the remaining team of Avengers<\/em> has come together and decided not to move on, but to rectify what has gone wrong.
