Prasar Bharati, India\u2019s public broadcaster service has decided to act against R Vasumathi, an Assistant Director of Program in Chennai, for not telecasting live the speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Singapore-India Hackathon 2019 held at IIT Madras\u2019 research center in Chennai on September 30.<\/p>\n

BJP and Shiv Sena release candidates\u2019 names<\/h2>\n

The Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena on Tuesday announced 125 and 68 candidate names, respectively. The two parties earlier announced that they would jointly contest Maharashtra elections. In 2014 polls they parted ways after failing to secure a seat sharing formula.<\/p>\n

AP government to set up Village Secretariat system<\/h2>\n

KSRTC bans plastic water bottles on premier buses<\/h2>\n

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has banned the supply of single-use plastic water bottles to passengers travelling in its premier services. The corporation took this decision on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on Wednesday. Managing Director of KSRTC Shivayogi C. Kalasad said plastic water bottles will be off their services from October 3. Every year, the corporation procures 1.2 Crore water bottles (single-use plastic) and provides them to passengers.<\/p>\n

Amit Shah flags off Vande Bharat Express<\/h2>\n

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday flagged off the Vande Bharat Express at the New Delhi Railway Station. This train will run from New Delhi to Shri Vaishno Devi; it is expected to reduce travel time to four hours.<\/p>\n

Women extract 6 men\u2019s teeth in witchcraft case in Odisha<\/h3>\n

Police arrested 29 people, including 22 women on Tuesday in a witchcraft case. They allegedly extracted the teeth of six men and forced them to consume human excreta at Gopapur village in Odisha\u2019s Ganjam district. All victims were above 60 years of age; they were taken to a hospital after the incident. All of them are well and said to be stable now.<\/p>\n
