Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori – The International Expo for Cycles, Motorcycles and Accessories, Milan is the biggest annual motorcycle show across the world. The event brings with it, some of the biggest, most anticipated launches and reveals of the motorcycling world every year. Like every year the 2019 chapter of EICMA hosted a plethora of the latest models, concepts and two-wheeled prototypes.<\/p>\n

This year, the limelight was mostly hogged by adventure motorcycles and electric-powered concepts. Adventure motorcycles have risen in worldwide popularity in the last few years, and there have been some surprising additions to this segment at EICMA 2019. Also, among the highlights, is Honda’s all-new MotoGP inspired superbike.<\/p>\n

Here are some of the main attractions of this year’s show and some of them will not let your eyebrows come back down:<\/h1>\n

\"The<\/a>
The new Ducati Desert X Scrambler<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Ducati Desert X Scrambler<\/h1>\n

First on our list is Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati’s Desert X Scrambler. Inspired by the Dakar winning Cagiva Elefant, this bike is a slightly bigger take on their desert romper. Built on the Scrambler 1100’s platform, but with redesigned elements, it will surely go into production probably by the end of next year. It gets adventure spec front and rear wheels clad in Pirelli Scorpion tyres, at twenty-one and eighteen inches in diameters respectively. The bike also has four fuel tanks for long rides and touring.<\/p>\n

\"Harley<\/a>
Harley Davidson’s new electric bike Pan America<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Harley Davidson Pan America<\/h1>\n

Harley Davidson has forayed into a territory that they’ve never stepped in before. Their iconic electric model livewire has been so well received that this time they’ve decided to throw something totally unexpected at their audience. These last couple of years, the company has taken the word adventure rather literally, sponsoring the X-Games and featuring in a pop music video. It’s all been a ploy to get to their ultimate endgame for this year. The motorcycle manufacturer has come up with their very first Adventure tourer, called the Pan America, and it’s claimed to be every bit true to its name. They are the first-ever leap into adventure motorcycling; the bike also features a brand new liquid-cooled V twin-engine, long-travel front forks and all-terrain knobby tyres.<\/p>\n

\"KTM<\/a>
The new KTM 390 Adventure tourer<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

KTM 390 Adventure<\/h1>\n

This year has been all about adventure motorcycles; there’s no denying it. And though adventure tourers tend to be built on the heavier side, KTM has a completely unconventional ideology towards power to weight ratios. The company is known for building smaller, lighter and nimble motorcycles, with high-performance engines mated to wide range gearboxes. The KTM 390 Adventure tourer is finally here after a long and patient waiting period. A slightly bigger front wheel, long-travel front suspension and several other off-road tweaks, make it a fearsome lightweight off-roader – mad and endeavouring. KTM aims to be a gateway to the different forms of motorcycle riding, for both young and new riders, taking them gently yet firmly by their hand as they grow in the art of it. This act of KTM breeds brand loyalty, and for seasoned riders, there isn’t a family of machines that are more precise or responsive.<\/p>\n

\"Husqvarna<\/a>

Husqvarna Norder 901<\/h1>\n

Swedish by nature, the Husqvarna Norden 901 has finally been introduced and is a much-anticipated step into Adventure motorcycling by the company. A 21 inch front with an 18-inch rear wheel, both with wire spokes and a two-piece TFT display are one of the key features that make this a lightweight explorer. Based on the KTM 790 Adventure, the Norden 901 can prove to be an effective middleweight, and how well it fares against the competition in its class, will be worth witnessing.<\/p>\n

\"Honda's<\/a>
Honda’s all-new CBR1000RR-R sports motorcycle<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Honda CBR1000RR-R<\/h1>\n

Though the EICMA this year features more adventure tourers than ever, there were still some pretty serious supers and concepts and, to mention them would be the least we could do. Among the most fearsome motorcycle launches is Honda’s all-new CBR1000RR-R sports motorcycle, which is all-out aerodynamics and high-performance take on their flagship model. Inspired from their GP dominating race winner, the new CBR is expected to raise the bar several notches higher. The brand new superbike features a full-colour TFT display and an electronics package that features adjustable suspension settings and a lean-angle sensor. Reports claim that the engine is capable of producing a little over 214 HP.<\/p>\n

\"Aprilia<\/a>

Aprilia RS660 and Tuono 660<\/h1>\n

Last year, EICMA had seen a concept version of the aggressively styled iconic true blue Italian superbike\u00a0 Aprilia RS 660, and 2019 has brought us a fully loaded production-spec version. There are very few deviations from the original concept, and that is what makes this motorcycle even more exciting. Aprilia has gone all out Race replica on this 660 cc parallel-twin driven motorcycle that churns out 100 hp and weighs just 169 kg. It gets an all aluminium frame and swing-arm, which combine with its torquey middleweight engine, to give it a formidable power to weight ratio. The bike was accompanied by its naked twin, the Tuono 660 which, as of now, is a concept waiting to be developed. We can expect the base version to debut at next year’s show.<\/p>\n

\"Honda's<\/a>

Honda CB4 X Concept<\/h1>\n

Another feature at the Race inspired manufacturer’s pavilion was their sport-tourer concept – the CB4 X. It gets a menacing look, pronounced by a DRL integrated headlamp placed in the lower part of the bike’s fairing and sharp angular surface transitions from the fuel tank, all the way to the tail. Powered by Honda’s signature inline four-cylinder engine, the bike looks every bit the promising tourer that the company claims it to be. 17-inch wheels add to the sporty appeal, and the overall construction does not make the motorcycle appear short in any way.<\/p>\n

\"Suzuki's<\/a>
The new flagship of Suzuki V-Strom 1050<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Suzuki V-Strom 1050<\/h1>\n

The highlight of the Suzuki podium at the EICMA this year were the V-Strom 1050 standard and XT twins who have replaced the company’s outgoing flagship motorcycle, the V-Strom 1000. Styled to reminisce of the ADV’s of the past, the V-Strom has a twin-spar all aluminium frame, that houses a 1037 cc liquid-cooled engine producing 107 horsepower and 100 Nm of torque. The engine is BSVI ready and comes equipped with a new electronic suite called the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System. The bike will also be launched in India next year, though the exact dates have not been confirmed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
