Since the game is going to be about bringing the future of mobility to the Indian market, most of that setting-up at the expo will be showcasing their upcoming electric offerings and new technological developments.

Of all the electric-powered options to be found at the expo, here are a few that will surely be seen at the event.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R EV

Maruti Suzuki began their sustainable mobility drive with the announcement of decommissioning of their diesel vehicle production come 2020. The country’s largest automotive manufacturer has established that if the electric is the way of the future, they want a part in building it. Fifty fully-electric variants of their popular hatchback Wagon R, are already under test across the country. The Wagon R electric vehicle will share its styling with the facelifted Petrol and CNG line-up of models when they are revealed at the 2020 Auto Expo this February. One should expect the pricing to be well under the ten-lakh budget since the Wagon R has been among the top economy hatchbacks of the country, knowing that electric car pricing is a little high when compared to the likes of petrol and diesel.

Renault Kwid EV

Renault will be bringing along its fully electric Kwid variant to the Indian market. Seeing that the Kwid has done exceedingly well in the economy or the small car segment, the time is right to ease the already familiar market into the electric space with its electric variant.

The company has already been selling this model in the Chinese market under the name ‘City KZE’ for a price of sixty-one thousand Yuan, which is approximately 6.3 lakh rupees. It is powered by a 26.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a motor that produces approximately 43 horsepower. The battery provides the electric Kwid with a range of two hundred and seventy kilometres on a full charge.

The electric variant of the Kwid is expected to be priced in the same price range under INR 10 lakh, like the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R EV which it will be competing against.

Kia Soul EV

The Kia Soul EV was first introduced at Kia’s experience centre in Gurugram, India. The car has been placed at the BEAT-360 center to allow people to experience their fully electric offering which will also find its way to the 2020 Auto Expo, possibly in a facelifted, road-ready avatar.

It is powered by a 64kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a motor that provides over two hundred horsepower and almost four hundred Newton-metre of torque at its peak. Capable of doing 0-100 in under eight seconds, the car gets a driving range of more than four hundred kilometres on a single charge of its battery.

Tata Nexon EV

Tata Motors’ first electric offering will be a battery-powered variant of their popular compact SUV, Nexon. Driven by their Ziptron EV-technology, it is a fully electric vehicle that has already been tested all across the country, including the Manali-Leh route. With a driving range of about three hundred kilometres on a full charge, it is powered by an IP67 lithium-ion battery. It will be costlier than the IC Engine variants, and one can expect the pricing to be in the INR 15 lakh to INR 17 lakh range.

Tata Altroz EV

The Tata Altroz premium hatchback has been well-received across the country, and pre-booking deposits are already being accepted on all major dealerships. Scheduled to be launched at the Auto Expo 2020, the Altroz electric will be showcased with petrol and diesel variants, which will hit the markets well before it does. It will be their second car after the Nexon EV, to be powered by Tata motors’ Ziptron electric technology.

Mahindra XUV300 EV

Built to rival the likes of Nexon and others in the Indian compact SUV segment, the Mahindra XUV300 has performed relatively well since its launch earlier this year. The company will also be introducing an electric variant of this car to go neck-to-neck with the upcoming Tata Nexon EV. It will be powered by a 40kWh battery pack and an electric motor that will produce somewhere around 130bhp. The car will get a range of three hundred kilometres on a single charge of its battery. The company will also provide a DC fast-charger for quick juice-ups of the powerpack.

Mahindra eKUV100

The 2018 Auto Expo had seen the electric variant of Mahindra’s smallest SUV, the KUV100. Called the eKUV100, the car will come equipped with a 16kWh battery and a motor that produces 54 horses and 120Nm of torque. On a full charge, the car gets a short range of a hundred and twenty kilometres. It will also get a DC fast charger which would provide for a full charge in under an hour.

Related Links:

Tata Teases its Upcoming New Additions

The Electric Future is Here as Promised

Forthcoming Electric Vehicles in India

The massive slowdown faced by the Indian automotive industry has greatly affected the manufacturing sector, and quite a large number of them have decided against participating in the Auto Expo 2020.
