Patparganj Key Facts and its Top Candidates for Delhi Assembly Election<\/h2>\n

Patparganj Assembly Constituency is known for its industrial complex and residential housing\/colonies of the former diplomats and civil servants. Almost half of the population in this assembly belongs to the Purvanchali community and migrants from Uttarakhand (mainly Negis and Rawats from Garhal hills). This was a Congress stronghold from 1998 to 2008 assembly elections. However, AAP\u2019s Manish Sisodia has been winning this seat since 2013.<\/p>\n

Incumbent Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia (Aam Aadmi Party or AAP), has again filed nomination from the Patparganj assembly seat. Both Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Indian National Congress (INC) have fielded newcomers against heavyweight Manish Sisodia. While BJP has fielded Ravinder Singh Negi, INC has fielded Laxman Rawat.<\/p>\n

                Patparganj assembly constituency\u2019s main 2020 election issues revolve around the new kind of politics implemented by AAP (especially free public welfare schemes of the Delhi\u2019s AAP government including Education First Policy) along with local issues.<\/p>\n

                  Education First Policy implemented by the AAP government, led by the incumbent MLA of Patparganj assembly and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, is lauded by all. To improve the schooling system, AAP has allocated 25% of the budget to education, drawing accolades from the citizens (especially the lower-income and middle-income groups) who send their children to public schools.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  Manish Sisodia led improvement in public school\u2019s infrastructure (an improvement from broken benches\/doors and students squatting on the floor to splashing swimming schools) and quality of education (including regular parent-teacher meetings to reduce dropouts, happiness curriculum, and many more) has benefitted a lot of people. Many middle-class parents in Delhi have started to re-enrol their children back from pricey private schools to public schools.<\/p>\n

                  This has improved the image of AAP as well as Manish Sisodia significantly and is likely to have a significant effect on the voting pattern of the electorates, especially from the middle-class and lower-income beneficiaries of the Education First Policy.<\/p>\n

                    Local issues of the constituency (such as availability of the basic amenities including clean drinking water, \u201cpucca\u201d houses for slum dwellers, health facilities in the government hospitals, etc.) will mainly affect the voting patterns. Certain slum and low-income group areas are allegedly getting unclean water supply.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    The issues of law and order, the safety of women, and other basic civic amenities will also play an important role in the Patparganj constituency of the 2020 Delhi assembly election.
