Post Results:<\/strong> In the state Assembly elections 2020, Preeti Tomar of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won from Tri Nagar with a vote margin of over 58,504 votes. He was contesting election against Tilak Ram Gupta of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).<\/p>\n

Tri Nagar Assembly Constituency (a part of the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency) is known for being one of the major emerging locations for real estate investment in North Delhi. This assembly constituency has always been a BJP stronghold, which won this seat thrice (2003, 1998, and 1993). In fact, Congress has also a significant presence here. The Indian National Congress (INC) won this assembly twice (2008 and 2003). The entire arithmetic of vote sharing became topsy-turvy with the entry of AAP in 2013. While AAP\u2019s Jitender Singh Tomar lost the 2013 assembly election by a slender margin (2,809 votes) to BJP\u2019s Nand Kishore Garg, Tomar bounced back in 2015 to rest the seat from Garg at a margin of 22,307 votes.<\/p>\n

Though Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) initially announced sitting MLA Jitender Singh Tomar as the candidate, later it changed the candidate to Preeti Tomar (wife of Jitender Singh Tomar) after Delhi High Court set aside the election of Jitendra Tomar for giving wrong declaration regarding his educational qualifications in the nomination papers during 2015 assembly election. The other contestants of Tri Nagar Assembly Constituency are Tilak Ram Gupta of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Kamal Kant Sharma of Indian National Congress (INC), Aruna of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Kamaldev Rai of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), and an Independent candidate Baljeet.<\/p>\n
