From the director of the Murder<\/em> franchisee, Malang<\/em> is an action-crime-romance drama which explores the genre through the glasses of Korean-style-prison-brawl.<\/p>\n

Plot of the Movie Malang:<\/em><\/h1>\n

Twenty-something Advait, played by Aditya Roy Kapur meets Sara played by Disha Patani at a rave in Goa. Sara is an NRI whose life\u2019s purpose is to push the boundary by flowing down to India all by herself and indulge in scuba diving and scoring hallucinogens, among others. But the twist in the tale comes when Advait decides to leave everything to settle in the alps for some unattributed reason.<\/p>\n

Analysis:<\/h2>\n

What happens when the makers themselves realise the loopholes in the writing? They overcompensate with extra glamour, loud background score, and some really belligerent dialogues.<\/p>\n

From the beginning, we get a sense of Mohit Suri\u2019s aspiration to portray the larger-than-life red masculinity of the hero – showing off his masculine body, unnecessary indulgence in fights with other inmates, warring tattoo.<\/p>\n

The effort was also made in the portrayal of rave culture – the escapism and crapulence. But the shallowness reflects when the pseudo philosophers in the leads contemplate on Sukoon<\/em> (peace) but end up indulging in the intoxicated soiree.<\/p>\n

To add to that hyper-masculinity and toxicity, another track which goes parallelly is Agashe played by Anil Kapoor, a police inspector whose nose is full of illegal substances and how he investigates a murder which took place on a Christmas eve.<\/p>\n

As a whole, there is a lot to catch up on the movie since the narration is linear as well as has a flashback. But the shallowness of the characters and the made-up events and situations in the film cries louder to appear majestic – both in terms of narration and the portrayal of the characters.<\/p>\n

All in all, Malang<\/em> is that cranky, pretentious teenager, who doesn\u2019t know what he wants.<\/p>\n
