But then, what about the dog, Khurana reminds her since she had insisted on getting the dog and is not his responsibility.

Analysis

A dog and a couple are fighting to all appearances. The narrative becomes quite lucid that this is going to be about the spar of ownership. From the beginning, one knows where the story is heading. But somehow it doesn’t hold on to the convention of a short story either.

First, let’s talk about the conversation around the separation. She says, “Don’t tell me you didn’t see this coming” and he very readily agrees to it. There is no drama, no piteousness and no visible heartbreak. Probably all the emotion was saved for later around the dog – the real protagonist of the film.

When left with no option, Nikhil tries to pile on at a relative’s house played by Maria Galetti. When declined, he then turns to the shelter house (owner played by Mallika Dua) to dump Nawab.

The entire film has several emotions and message, but nothing emoted too strongly. Perhaps, it is because the world attempted to be created by the director wanted to portray the lack of emotions we often feel for the animals of our society. Or this could be just sheer laziness of writing and lack of effort from the maker’s side.

Watch out here!

Another narrative on empathy to improve attitudes toward animals.
