Plot<\/h1>\n

Set in Udaipur, the film starts with the glimpse of Champak Bansal played by Irrfan Khan who runs a halwai<\/em> shop<\/span> named Ghasitaram Mishthan Bhandar<\/em>. Bansal lives with his daughter Tarika played by Radhika Madan who has just one dream since childhood \u2013 to study abroad. The story unfolds when the daughter of this middle-class family manages to reach London at the expense of the familial bond and the family’s financial situation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Analysis<\/h2>\n

The story of the entire film stands on a single thread of campaigning for the importance of conserving one’s heritage over western values. But the situation itself turns out to be an error of comedy which the film did not see coming. And the result is a situational comedy in error.<\/span><\/p>\n

The film has a total of four writers such as Bhavesh Mandalia, Gaurav Shukla, Vinay Chhawall and Sara Bodinar, and none of them had any clue what the other writer is up to – resulting in multiple extraneous sub-plots, which kept on going at different directions till the very end.<\/span><\/p>\n

And that’s what made the film more exhausting despite an impressive cast.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Not only the sub-plots are the redundant but forceful placement of faces to have a bigger star cast reflects in the film.<\/span><\/p>\n

The story was supposed to revolve around the daughter, who manages to reach London and how her relationship unfolds with her father over time. But the squeezed in multiple subordinate plots leaves very less room for the real story to flourish.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, actors like Deepak Dobriyal and Irrfan Khan are a treat to watch needless to say. The larger than life persona of Kareena Kapoor Khan has also lightened up the screen despite the track being superfluous.<\/span><\/p>\n

A pleasant surprise in the film is underrated Tillotama Shome who is mostly seen in indie films, and it is quite refreshing to watch actors like her having screen space in big mainstream commercial cinema.<\/span><\/p>\n
