The inauguration of the National Rail Museum in Delhi<\/a> dates back to the year 1977. Spread over 10 acres of land amidst a sprawling park, this historical museum is located in the embassy area of Chanakyapuri. The National Rail Museum is a tribute to the Railway Heritage of India. An exotic and wide collection of over 100 actual size exhibits of the Indian railways are displayed in this unique museum.<\/p>\n

The rail museum is an amalgamation of rare steam locomotives, historical pictures, railway artifacts that are displayed along with some static and working models of a wide variety of trains in India. The provision of an informative tablet right next to every exhibit makes it a knowledgeable place to visit. An adjoining building in the premises of the museum harbours some of the very old pictures as well as miniature exhibits of the railways, which have been prohibited from photography.<\/p>\n

The most amazing feature of the rail museum that attracts the children as well as train buffs is the toy train that provides a joyful ride. \u00a0On some days, the old steam monorail is also run across the grounds of the museum. Besides the exciting ride of a train, one can also enjoy boating here. The best thing about this place is that there is no restriction on touching or climbing upon the static trains. One can closely examine the ancient trains with a free hand. Since this place isn\u2019t quite as popular as a tourist spot, the absence of a big rush of crowd makes it a much peaceful experience. Don\u2019t forget to take back a souvenir of the train models from the Indian souvenir shop!<\/p>\n
