Born in Guwahati, Nalini Bala Devi wrote her first poem, Pita, at a tender age of 10 and got married at the age of 12. She lost her husband when she was just 19, followed by losing two of her sons early in her life. These tragic events did not break her down and she started writing poems based on emotion, tragedy, patriotism and devotion. All her poems are still acclaimed in the Assamese literature.\u00a0\u00a0\ufeff<\/p>\n
As a noted Indian writer and poet of Assamese Literature, Nalini Bala Devi was born on 23 March 1898. She was known for nationalistic and mystical poetry and was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1957 for her brilliant contribution to the field of literature.
