J. Dringwell Rymbai is the former Chief Minister of Meghalaya and a member of Indian National Congress. He was born on 26th October 1934 in Meghalaya. During his graduation he was forced to discontinue his education due to poverty. Though later he continued his studies and received his B. Ed (Bachelor of education) degree.<\/p>\n
He became an assistant teacher in a government school and gradually rose to the level of a head master of a government school. He married Peggymon Pathaw and has three daughters and two sons with her.<\/p>\n
In 1983, J.Dringwell Rymbai actively participated in politics and won from the Jirang constituency from the Congress party ticket in the legislative assembly elections. He was then elected as the deputy speaker of the legislative assembly.<\/p>\n
It is notable that consecutively three times in the years 1993, 1998 and 2003 he has been elected as the MLA of Jirang. From 1998 onwards he held the responsibility of several ministries in the government.<\/p>\n
J.Dringwell Rymbai was a loyal friend of D. D. Lapang, chief minister of Meghalaya from 2003 to 2006. After the conflict that arose in 2006 on the issue over Lapang’s leadership, he replaced him on 15th June 2006 as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya.<\/p>\n
He held the office till March 2007, when Lapang again returned as the Chief Minister of Meghalaya as a result of the decision taken by the senior members of the Congress Party.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
