Anu Malik was born on 2 November, 1960 as Anwar Sardaar Malik. He is a music director, singer, actor, director, and producer in the Hindi film industry. He is known for composing music for more than 350 different kinds of films. He has won a National Award for his music and also the Filmfare Best Music Director Award. He was one of the judges in the reality television show, Indian Idol since its inception. Some of his own compositions are “Gori Gori”, “Garam Chaye Ki Pyali”, and “Meri Jane Jigar.”<\/p>\n
Anu Malik made his debut in 1977 with the film Hunterwali. He composed music for popular films including Sohni Mahiwal, Ganga Jamuna Saraswati, Aasman, Love Marriage, Mard, Mujrim, Jeete Hain Shaan Se, and many more. Some songs that he sang are “Julie Julie, Johnny ka dil tujh pe aiya Julie” and Jeete Hain Shaan Se”. Though Malik received enough recognition for his songs in Sir and Phir Teri Kahaani Yaad Aayee, but Baazigar brought him huge success. Malik became a well-known name in the 1990s with Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee, Baazigar, Jaanam, Sir, Tehelka, Chamatkar, and Maa. Some of the recent films for which he has composed music are Kambakkht Ishq, Shootout at Wadala, Yamla Pagla Deewana and Dum Laga Ke Haisha.<\/p>\n
Anu Malik is known for his versatility in music. He has produced music for different genres of movies. He has also written songs, which later turned popular. His songs are more popular for being unique. It is said that no two songs of his are similar in terms of instrumental arrangements and vocal modalities. His specialty is the use of tabla in his music. Some of the hit songs in which he used tabla much are “Taal Pe Jab” and “Mere Humsafar” from the film Refugee, “Eli Re Eli” in Yaadein, “Tumse Milke Dilka Jo Haal” in Main Hoon Na and “Baazigar O Baazigar” from the film Baazigar.<\/p>\n
