Hindi theatre has a firm footing in India. A study reveals the fact that Hindi theatre is believed to have been first started by a person named Bhartendu Harishchandra of Varanasi. He tried to make Hindi theatre famous not only in India but also overseas. Bhartendu added few concepts of Sanskrit Theatre in Hindi.<\/p>\n

He established an association, Bhartendu Natyamandali, whose main aim was to make Hindi theatre famous world wide.<\/p>\n

The concept of modern hindi theatre developed in the late 1940s and early 1950s. It is interesting to note that modern Hindi theatre is not only confined to the Hindi speaking areas but spread to all the non-Hindi speaking areas also.<\/p>\n

The new energetic directors have given a new impetus to the concept of Hindi theatre in the modern developing era. The immense influence of the middle class in Hindi theatre in the modern era has resulted in a radical transformation in its nature.<\/p>\n

From 1960 onwards other regional theatres were translated into Hindi. This gave a new meaning and style to Hindi theatre and also helped it to develop an unique identity of its own.<\/p>\n

An important genre in Hindi Theatre started in late 1970s with the establishment of the Prithvi Theatre. This ushered in a new era, giving newcomers an opportunity to exhibit their talent in front of the masses.<\/p>\n

Shashi Kapoor, one of the most versatile actors in Bollywood, is credited for the establishment of Prithvi Theatre. Presently it has many events and activities that take place all over India but its main aim is to spread Hindi theatre round the globe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
