Karun Chandhok is young and energetic\u00a0formula car racers of the country. He is the first Indian driver to take part in A-1 Grand Prix. Two-time recipient of the Motor SportsMan of the Year Award, Karun Chandhok became the youngest Asian driver when he drove for India in the Asian Formula Championships in 2001.<\/p>\n
Born on 19th January 1984 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu Karun took the wheels as a teenager. He created a record by achieving seven race victories and winning the Indian National Racing Championship in 2000. He was only 16 years old at that time.<\/p>\n
Next year he won 5 races in the season and a total of eight races in a year. His success earned him the award of Most Promising Asian Driver of the Year. He continued his successful run and in 2003 he became the first Indian to earn the distinction to be the certified instructor at a Formula 1 Venue. He became the captain of Team India for the 24 hours Dubai Karting Race.<\/p>\n
His greatest success came in 2006 when he became the winner of the first Asian Formula Renault V 6 Championship. He has signed with Durango Racing Squad of Italy to race in the GP2 series.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
