In Focus
What's in a name?
In Focus What's in a name? You may wonder, but going by the naming (or rather renaming) spree in India, it seems there is so much to a name. 2006 saw a slew of Indian cities and states being renamed. To begin with, on February 27, the Assam Cabinet took a decision that Assam would henceforth be known as Asom. October 13th saw the Uttaranchal Assembly approving a bill to change of name of the state to Uttarakhand. On November 1, India's very own Silicon Valley, Bangalore was renamed Bengaluru.
Rajasthan - The Tourist Hotspot of the Month
Rajasthan - The tourist hotspot of the month Majestic palaces, miles and miles of desert, rich cultural traditions, mouth-watering food, a colorful, friendly and warm people-Rajasthan has all these and much more.whether it is the Pushkar Mela or the camel ride in the Thar desert, a visit to romantic Udaipur or a luxurious ride in the Palace on Wheels, Rajasthan takes you on a time travel to a bygone era. If you are a wildlife enthusiast, Rajasthan has many national parks and sanctuaries to mesmerize you. And, surprisingly, it has a hill station too. Mt. Abu, famous for its exquisitely carved Dilwara Jain temples.
INDIA - The Emerging IT Capital of the World
INDIA - the emerging IT capital of the world From a land of snake charmers and maharajas to an IT powerhouse, if there is one industry that has single-handedly changed the image of India, it is the IT and ITeS (IT-enabled Services) industry. India's IT industry has taken the world by storm, so much so that the word Bangalored is now used as a verb to denote a layoff due to corporate outsourcing of businesses to lower wage economies. Indian companies like Infosys, Wipro and TCS(Tata Consultancy Servives) have made a name for themselves not only in India, but across the globe and are giving foreign companies a run for their money.
