Hampi is a village located in Northern Karnataka. Located within the ruins of Vijayanagara, the former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, Hampi continues to be an important religious centre, being home to the Virupaksha Temple as well as several other monuments that belong to the old city. The ruins at Hampi are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
