On Sunday, a red alert was issued by the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority in the three districts of the state of Palakkad, Idukki, and Thrissur. Meanwhile, in the district of Idukki an Orange alert has also been issued for the next few days, which means that the inhabitants must prepare themselves for the situation.

Taking stock of the situation, the chief minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, on Wednesday held an emergency meeting with the officials of KSDMA.
