Kerala was recently in the limelight as it witnessed one of the most devastating floods in nearly a hundred years. Just as it seemed the waters were receding and the situation was getting back to normal, news is trickling in that another severe flood might soon strike the state.
According to the India Meteorological Department, the Kerala will witness heavy to very heavy rains till October 6 and extremely heavy rain on October 7. On Sunday, a red alert was issued by the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority in the three districts of the state of Palakkad, Idukki, and Thrissur. Meanwhile, in the district of Idukki an Orange alert has also been issued for the next few days, which means that the inhabitants must prepare themselves for the situation.
Taking stock of the situation, the chief minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, on Wednesday held an emergency meeting with the officials of KSDMA. The CM maintained that there is a possibility that the three districts might witness a deluge or cyclonic storm along with extremely heavy rain on Sunday.
