Location of Ladakh
Ladakh, literally meaning "Land of High Passes" is located in Jammu and Kashmir and cradled between the Kunlun Mountain Range in the north and the main great Himalayas to the South. The area is populated by people of Indo-Aryan and Tibetan descent and is one of the most sparsely populated regions in Jammu and Kashmir. Ladakh today borders Tibet to the East, Lahaul and Spiti to the south and Kashmir, Jammu and Baltiyul regions to the west and the Trans-Kunlun territory of Xinjang to the far north.

There is no rail service to Ladakh and the only way to reach Ladakh is by road or air. Here is how:
The J and K State Transport operate regular buses as well as deluxe coaches between Kargil, Srinagar and Leh. Apart from that there are facilities like mini-buses and taxis that can take tourists to Ladakh.
The nearest airport to Ladakh is at Leh and direct flights are available from cities like Delhi, Chandigarh and Srinagar.
