Four Policemen Injured in Sopore Encounter After a long stretch of relative peace in the J&K region, the Sopore area has been hit with violence again. Reportedly, two militants have taken shelter in a house and are opening fire on the police. Four policemen were injured in the encounter so far. Of these, three have received splinter injuries caused by grenade, while one was hit by a bullet. The incident still remains unresolved as firing from both sides is going on.

In a tragic development near the Kothacheruvu railway station in Andhra Pradesh, the Bangalore-Nanded Express (Train No. 16594) caught fire which claimed 23 lives. Among the casualties are two school children. The incident happened in the Anantapur district early this morning.

14 December: Seven people have been killed in a fire that engulfed several floors of the 26-storey Mont Blanc building, located in Kemps Corner in South Mumbai. Five of the seven killed were residents of the building and are yet to be identified. Their bodies have been taken to hospitals in South Mumbai.
