The construction of the Mughal Gardens in India is one of the most spectacular creations by the Mughal emperors, which glorifies the prestige of the Mughal Empire till date. The beauty and charm of the Mughal Gardens is as impeccable as that of the heaven itself.  While India is blessed to have a number of Mughal Gardens in its vicinity, the prettiest of them is the Nishat Bagh in Srinagar. Located on the banks of the Dal Lake, it is popularly known as the ‘garden of joy or bliss’.

Nishat Bagh is the creation of Asif Khan, the brother of the Empress Noor Jehan, which came into existence in the year 1633. Spreading across 15.3 acres in area, it is the second largest Mughal Garden in India. At present, the garden consists of nine terraces out of which the second one is considered to be the most attractive one. There are two main pavilions at the lower and the upper end of the garden. There is a reservoir right at the centre. The entire garden is adorned with flower beds, fountains and plethora of chinar and cypress trees.

The splendid beauty and breathtaking panorama that Nishat Bagh offers is absolutely unforgettable. When in Srinagar, don’t miss a chance to adore this overwhelming landscape while boating in the Dal Lake!
