A Pakistani fishing boat blew itself up off the Gujarat coast on 31 December. As per media reports, the boat was carrying explosions and the Indian Coast Guard in Arabian Sea intercepted it for about an hour. The moment the Coast Guard fired towards the boat signalling warning to stop, it suddenly blew itself up. According to media reports there were four people on the boat but due to bad weather and darkness, neither the boat nor the persons could be recovered. Reportedly, the Coast Guard was keeping a high vigilance in the coastal areas since last couple of months due to various inputs on threat from the marines.
