Death toll touches 30 in Assam
As many as 30 people have been killed by Bodo militants since Thursday, 1 May 2014 in Assam. Out of the 30 dead, more than 20 were Bengali-speaking Muslims. As per media reports, the suspected group targeted them as they did not vote for their candidates in the Lok Sabha polls that were held on 24 April.

Violence in Assam’s Kokrajhar, 7 killed
At least seven civilians, including four women and two children, have been killed since yesterday in the Bodoland Territorial Administrative District (BTAD) in Assam’s Kokrajhar. According the media reports, some extremists opened fire in the Tulsibil region in Kokrajhar yesterday night. Three persons were killed in the incident.
Earlier on Thursday, the same group had targeted the Baksa area of the Bodoland Territorial Council, killing three. It is being suspected that militants of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland are behind the attack.
To control the spread of the untoward incident in Kokrajhar, the state government has sought the Centre for paramilitary forces.
