The only entrance exam that allows students to enrol in undergraduate programmes at IIT leading to bachelor’s degrees, integrated master’s degrees, or dual degrees in engineering, science, or architecture is JEE Advanced. After passing JEE Main, students must pass the national-level Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced to join the ranks of IIT alumni. The top 2.5 lakh JEE Main applicants are given seating for this entrance exam every year.

What documents are required in the JEE Advanced 2023 online application form?

Applicants must upload scanned copies of their documents to the online form. The necessary paperwork is listed below:

  • If the date of birth is specified therein or on the birth certificate, the class X certificate.
  • Class XII diploma or comparable examination
  • Class XII diploma or equivalent examination
  • A gazette notice indicates the name change if the candidate’s name differs from that on the Class X certificate.
  • Caste certificates as necessary.

What is the JEE Advanced exam pattern for 2023 

The JEE Advanced 2023 test specifics, including the question format, scoring system, and time, are listed below.

  • Exam format: A computer-based test (CBT) is the only exam format available.
  • There will be two question papers in JEE (Advanced) 2023, Paper 1 and Paper 2, each lasting three hours. Two exams are required.
  • Languages: Hindi and English
  • Total time: six hours
  • Marking scheme: Each year, the grading systems are modified. For some questions, wrong answers could result in a score deduction.
  • Sections: Each question paper will include three parts: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

What procedure is used to break ties? 

The following tie-break policy will be applied to determine ranks if the JEE Advanced 2023 aggregate marks of two or more candidates are the same:

Step 1: Applicants will be ranked higher if they receive higher positive marks. Step 2’s following criterion will be used if Step 1’s tie-breaking criteria fail to sever the tie.

Step 2: The applicant who received higher scores in mathematics will be given a higher rank. In the event of a tie, the candidate with the better Physics score will be given the higher rank. Candidates will be given the same rank if there is still a tie after this.

When does registration for JEE Advanced begin? 

Registration for JEE Advanced 2023 will start at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati on April 30 at 10 am and finish on May 7 at 5 pm. The last date for registered candidates to pay the fees is May 8.
