Delhi is a paradise for those who love to eat. Not only Delhi has one of the most beautiful dining places, but it is also a hub for those who want to binge but at the same time don’t want to burn a hole in their pockets. So, this blog is all about those places that serve delicious dishes, but at the same time, are very budget-friendly.
Paranthe Wali Gali
If you’re craving for some lip-smacking paranthas, then this is the right place for you. This place is nestled in Chandni Chowk and serves a great variety of paranthas. So, be it ‘aloo’, ‘gobi’, ‘keema’, ‘meva’, ‘carrot’ or even ‘banana’, your craving related to paranthas would be satisfied here. The best thing about this place is that the paranthas are deep-fried and are rich in taste. One will always find side dishes like sabzi, curd and pickle accompanying your parantha. And trust me, you will get this in peanuts. Oh yes! If you’re looking for a beverage with your parantha, try out the famous lassi (Sharma Bhojnalya) or famous the tandoori chai.
Jama Masjid
If you’ve been to Delhi, but you haven’t made a trip to the narrow lanes of Jama Masjid and tasted dishes like ‘Kebabs’ (Qureshi’s), ‘Biryani’ (Al-Jawahar), or Jalebi (Old Famous) ‘then your visit to Delhi may not be considered complete.’ This place is a paradise for non-veg and dessert lovers. The dishes served in these narrow lanes are delicious to the core and are very economical. Imagine having a full-fledged dinner with the main course and dessert included under INR 500. So, tag along with your friends and explore the lanes of Jama Masjid. Don’t miss Mango Kulfi’, ‘Fish Amritsari’ and ‘Shahi Tukda’.
Connaught Place
Even though Connaught Place is a hub of fine dining, still you would find gems here that serve you food at the price of peanuts. On a cold winter morning, start your day with a breakfast menu at Saravana Bhawan. Hog on ‘Idiyappam, Appam, Mini Idli, Vada and filter coffee.
Are you a student who is always tight on money? Or do you belong to the category that believes that fine dining takes away all the fun?
Then canteen of Andhra Bhawan is the place for you. Try their Andhra thali, and you would taste the authentic Andhra cuisine at the price of nothing. For all the Punjabi’s out there, Kake-Da-Dhaba is very famous, but it is slightly overpriced. However, in the same lane you would find Bhape-Da-Dhaba that serves amazing ‘Chicken Curry’, ‘Mutton Korma’, apart from other dishes and is quite low on budget.
Rajinder Da Dhaba
Few places go by word of mouth publicity. Even though the restaurant goes by the name ‘dhaba’, trust me, it doesn’t look like one. One must visit this place for Galouti kebabs, Tawa mutton and Mutton curry. A fair warning- this place is always crowded. So, if you’re keen on tasting their food, be prepared to wait. But trust me, it’s worth it.
Lajpat Nagar
Are you a Momo fan? Then this place is your ultimate goal. Apart from harbouring the best shopping spree places, this is the place where one should savour authentic momos. You’ve to visit Dolma Aunty Momos for the most delicious veg and non-veg momos. You would not only get variety in momos, but you will also get momos with a twist like- ‘Makhni Momos’, ‘Paneer Momos’, ‘Tandoori Momos’, ‘Qeema Momos’, etc. Hence, it should be on your visit list the next time you have a craving for Momos.
Majnu ka Tila
Did you know Delhi has its own little Tibet and its none other than ‘Majnu Ka Tila’. Once you visit this picturesque place, you would find small cafés that will serve you amazing dishes from Tibetan, Chinese, Korean and Japanese cuisine. It’s mandatory to visit AMA café for Tingmo, Tee Dee Restaurant for delicious pancakes and pork dishes, Kori’s for their authentic Korean cuisine and dishes like Kimbabs, Dosirak (Korena thali), Bibimbap, etc.
The best thing about these cafés is that you would be able to relish amazing food all within INR 500-600 for two people. Amazing.
Windsor Market
Indirapuram has its famous eating street that goes by the name ‘Windsor Market’. Windsor Market serves an array of dishes ranging from Lucknawi gilouti kebab, Shawarma rolls, biryanis, Falooda kulfi, rabri with jalebi, Ulte tawe ka parantha and many more. All the joints close to each other on this long lane, don’t forget to take a walk first to make sure what you want to eat and then have your pick.
So, these are some places that one should visit to have the most fantastic experience in terms of delicious food and at the same time being light on your pocket.
So, Binge Guys and Stay Happy!
