Director: Ashima Chibber

Music: Sachin Gupta

A well directed comedy-flick, surprisingly by a new hand, Ashima Chibber. Having worked with big names, such as Imtiaz Ali and Shimit Amin as an assistant director , she has outdone herself in her directorial début. Produced by an alternative production label of Yash Raj Films, the film has all the imperative elements of a Punjabi wedding spectacle.

The plot of the movie revolves around a Maruti car (with Maruti Suzuki very cleverly promoting its new launch, Ertiga). The script is short yet refreshingly entertaining with its exceptionally hilarious gags. The buffoonery aggravates when Sameer (Saqib) loses his Dad’s (Ram Kapoor) newly bought car which is supposed to be gifted to his sister at her wedding. What follows is a set of events that would surely tickle your funny bone.

Saqib Saleem( a fairly cute looking guy), also seen in “Mujhse fraandship karoge”, hits the right notes. With his perfect comic timing, he is surely set to impress you. Bollywood debutant, Rhea Chakraborty (The MTV Teen Diva girl) is just a pretty face in the movie. Her performance was obviously naive and failed to make an impact on the viewer’s mind. Ram Kapoor is the true flavor of the movie portraying the perfect fat, grumpy and flamboyant father. Ravi Kishan is just wasted as an actor.

The USP of the movie are the songs. All the numbers are peppy and vivacious. It has all the big names from Yo Yo Honey Singh, Punjabi Mc to Diljit Dosanjh and Sonu Kakkar, the best in the Punjabi genre. The background score is foot-tapping, forcing you to kick up your heels. The dialogues are good-humoured and immensely amusing which leave the viewers clapping and whistling. The one-liners are a plus point adding on to the leisure. With a duration of less than two hours, it doesn’t let you feel stretched.

All in all, the movie wont disappoint you. You can definitely expect full-on entertainment taking you on a roller coaster ride of laughter. The movie is a delight to watch, specially for Punjabis because “Punjabiyan di battery charge rehndi hai”! : ) Go ahead and give it a chance without thinking twice!
