9. Mary Kom (2014)
Mary Kom, as the name suggests, is based on the real life struggles and stupendous success of leading Indian woman boxer Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte (popularly known as Mary Kom). Omung Kumar directed this Priyanka Chopra starrer biographical sports film. Though the film was initially planned to be shot in Manipur, the plan was shelved due to security concerns. A major portion of the Manipur locales were recreated and was mainly shot in Manali and Dharamshala. Mary Kom premiered at the opening night of 39th Toronto International Film Festival 2014. It was released on September 5, 2014. This film went on to become the highest grossing film of all time having a female lead. At the 62nd National Film Awards, the film received the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment award. At Producers Guild Film Awards, it got ten nominations, and went on to win five awards.
