Plot: The movie opens with a scene in which we see Bauua Singh (Shah Rukh Khan), a vertically challenged man who hails from Meerut of Uttar Pradesh. Bauua is seen indulging in a tussle with his father Ashok. He always quitens his father (Tigmanshu Dhulia) by speaking French and flashing guns. Bauua is upset from his father’s habit of chewing tobacco and blames his father for his short height. The quirky dialogues, a small town set up, carefree attitude of the protagonists in the movie are beautifully depicted by Aanand L. Rai. Further in Zero, we come across Aafia, a NASA scientist suffering from cerebral palsy who later becomes the love interest of Bauua. The depiction of the challenges faced by Aasifa and Bauua in their relationship heightens the drama of the plot.

The whole first half of the film is spent on setting up the romance between the two protagonists who are tied up in an unconventional relationship and romance. The second half revolves around the superstar Babita (Katrina Kaif) and her boyfriend. Babita’s breakup with her boyfriend and closeness with Bauua leads to a love triangle between Bauua, Aasifa, and Babita. The characters are left in a cliffhanger in the second half which is an extended one.

Review: Two people in unusual circumstances face several challenges to find the love they deserve throughout the movie Zero. But, the movie is somehow lacking a focus on the central theme. It is jaded with over dramatic scenes and blank narratives. It neither connects the audience nor the proverbial dots which lies in the arc of the story. The film is laden will flat jokes and contains ill-planned scenes which makes it really weak and non-palpable. Things escalate really quickly throughout the movie which drives it away from the rootedness.
Coming to the performances we must say all the actors have tried really hard to deliver their best. Shah Rukh Khan is believable as a dwarf, Anushka has also tried hard to fit into her role of a wheel-chair bound NASA scientist and Katrina has rocked the movie with her item number.

Our verdict: There are a number of cameos in the movie which are surely going to attract the audience. You can watch the movie because Shah Rukh Khan has given his best performance so far but keep your expectations low as the movie is not a masterpiece as it was expected to be.
