The early life of Rishi Sunak

Rishi Sunak was born on 12 May 1980 in Southampton to a Hindu family of parents, Yashvir and Usha Sunak. He is the eldest of three siblings. While his father, Yashvir, was born and raised in the Colony and Protectorate of Kenya, his mother, Usha, was born in Tanzania.

Father Yashvir was a general practitioner, and Usha was a pharmacist who ran a local pharmacy. Rishi completed his schooling at Stroaded school, a preparatory school in Romsey, Hampshire, where he was head boy and the school paper’s editor. Rishi also worked as a waiter at a curry house in Southampton during his summer holidays.

He studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Lincoln College, Oxford, where he graduated with a first in 2001.

Political Career of Rishi Sunak 

A politician with a young mind was chosen as the Conservative candidate for Richmond. That year he was also head of the Black and Minority Ethnic Research Unit of the Policy Exchange.

Also, in the 2015 General Election, He was elected as an MP from Richmond from 2015 to 2017 and was a member of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee.

Sunak was again re-elected as MP from the same seat in the 2017 General Election.
