Why does the same side of the Moon always face Earth?

The same side of the Moon always faces Earth because the Moon is tidally locked to our planet. It takes the Moon about 27.3 days to rotate once on its axis, which is exactly the same amount of time it takes to complete one orbit around Earth. As a result, the Moon rotates once for every orbit, keeping the same hemisphere facing Earth at all times. This phenomenon occurred over billions of years due to Earth’s gravitational pull, which gradually slowed the Moon’s rotation and synchronized it with its orbital period. This is exactly why we always see nearly the same side of the Moon from Earth, although slight changes allow us to observe about 59% of its surface over time.
