Location: Jalandhar City, Punjab

Finding a very beautiful mausoleum in a Sikh-dominated region was no less than a surprise for me. Situated in the heart of the Jalandhar city, the Imam Nasir Mausoleum presents a special treat for the eyes. It is one of the oldest monuments in the city of Jalandhar, and has been named after a great saint of the medieval era, Imam Nasir. According to archaeological surveys, the Imam Nasir Mausoleum is supposedly an 800-year-old structure. In spite of its magnificent architecture and historic relevance, not many are aware about this mausoleum.

The Imam Nasir Mausoleum is a splendid white structure with four majestic spires which stand as hallmarks on the streets of Jalandhar. Every look at the spellbinding architecture of this mausoleum makes you appreciate the artistic skills of those times. The Imam Nasir Mausoleum also houses a dargah in its premises, which is said to be 1100-year-old. The outer complex was constructed long after that. The dargah is famous for housing Baba Farid, the 12th-century Sufi saint, for a 40-day stay.

The Imam Nasir mausoleum is colourfully illuminated at the time of Muslim festivities. The garden around it is covered with twinkling lights, forming a heavenly sight for the onlookers. The calmness in the surroundings provides immense peace and satisfaction to those seeking solitude. The tall structure of the mausoleum can be easily seen from quite a distance. The Imam Nasir Mausoleum has brought glory to the city of Jalandhar with its exquisite architecture. The majestic splendour of  this monument is definitely worth admiring once!
