2019 is going to be big for cricketing fans. To start the new year, we have the Indian cricket team taking on the Australians in the new year test. The test match is going to take place at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground and it is the first time in the history of Indian Cricket that an Indian team is on the verge of winning a test series down under. India is currently leading the series 2-1. They won the first test of the series in Adelaide. The Australians came back roaring in the second test at Perth to make the series 1-1. The Indian team then showed their mental strength to bounce back and again lead the series.
After this test series, there are three ODIs that will be played between these two teams. The ODIs are scheduled on 12th, 15th and 18th of January. The Indian team will travel to NewZealand after this to take part in two short form series. They will be playing 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is between January 23 and February 10.
The Australian team will be making a return visit to India but will only play 5 ODIs and 2 T20Is between February 24 and March 13. After that, there is the IPL, the biggest sporting event in India every year. It will be preponed this year from April-May to March-April because of the general elections that are going to happen during May and June 2019. The dates for the IPL are still not finalized but these are the tentative dates that are being discussed by the BCCI.
In 2019, there is the ICC World Cup also, the event that happens every four years and it will be taking place in England this year. Hosts England who have never won a World Cup till date and India who are the only team to win the World Cup when hosting will start as favourites. It will be the first time Virat Kohli will be leading India in the 50 over World cup. So there is a lot to look forward to for the Indian Fans in the coming year.
