Indian Cricketers who made 10,000 runs in ODIs

Cricket may not be the national sport of India but it is no less than a religion itself. Scoring more than 10,000 runs across a playing career in any format of cricket is a significant achievement. There are some prolific players out there who have registered their names in the record books and scored more than 10, 000 runs in the One Day Internationals. Till now, 13 players have accomplished this milestone out of which 5 are Indian batsmen. In this article, we are talking about  the names of the Indian batsmen who have scored 10,000 or more runs in the ODIs.

Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar also known as the God of Cricket is one of the greatest players of all time. Colloquially known as the Master Blaster and the Little Master, Sachin was the first batsmen to complete 10,000 runs in the One Day Internationals. He reached this milestone in 2001 in his 259th innings while playing a match against Australia. Sachin has scored total 18426 runs in his 23-year long career in ODIs from 1989 to 2012. This iconic player has played 664 international cricket matches in which he has scored total 34,357 runs.

Saurav Ganguly

Saurav Ganguly
Saurav Ganguly, former captain of the Indian Cricket team is one of the finest openers to have played for India. Known not only for his batting but also for his bowling skills, Ganguly has played 311 ODI matches. In his 15 years long ODI career from 1992 to 2007 he scored 11,363 runs at an average of 41. Ganguly is currently working as the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal.

 

Rahul Dravid

Rahul Dravid
Regarded as The Wall, Rahul Dravid is the first and only player till date to score a century in all the ten Test-playing countries. This right-handed batsman has scored a total of 10,889 runs in his 15 years long ODI career from 1996 to 2011.

 

M.S Dhoni

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is an attacking right-handed middle-order batsman and wicket-keeper. He made his ODI debut on 23 December 2004 against Bangladesh. Often regarded as Captain Cool or Mahi, Dhoni is the 4th Indian cricketer to score 10,000 runs in the ODIs. He played 273 innings and completed his 10,000 runs against England in 2018.

 

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli
Current Indian skipper Virat Kohli has achieved a milestone in his career after making a world record by being the fastest player to complete 10,000 runs. Kohli broke the record of Sachin Tendulkar by scoring 10,000 runs in just 205 innings. Tendulkar made this score in 259 innings. He is the 5th Indian to achieve this feat. Kohli made his debut against Sri Lanka in 2008. It is the same year in which he led the Indian U-19 team against South Africa in the junior world cup. On 24th October 2018, during the second ODI of the series against West Indies in Vizag, Virat Kohli became the quickest batsman to score 10,000 runs in the ODI cricket.
