It is turning out to be a big day for those who are branded as “Libtards” and “Siculars”. Liberals and Seculars are rejoicing and terming it is a victory of development over communalism. Shaheen Bagh worked or didn’t work is debatable. All seats which BJP gets can be attributed to Shaheenbaag and all the seats BJP lost can also be attributed to Shaheenbaag.

BJP is being still hopeful, with all 7 MPs but covering its flanks. Victory would’ve been of PM Modi and HM Shah, but defeat is likely to be of the 7 MPs from Delhi – they would be held responsible for the poor show. It is early to say but looks like Congress is holding to one seat. BJP’s top leadership should be worried.

BJP’s last-minute push was extremely aggressive and to win against “Campaign Tsunami” AAP would have achieved absolutely unachievable mandate. AAP played only on work and talked about just their work. Women turnout was very good and Arvind Kejriwal’s focus on making life easier for women also has helped. Delhi Elections were not fought as “Mayorly Elections” – they were fought with impact over all of India. The elections were fought under Modi’s name. BJP is doing better in Semi-rural and rural so far.

We are sure, nowhere else in this world, a “Mayorial” election to say has ever been at this high stakes. It is a textbook case of David and Goliath story, Arvind Kejriwal plays David to the BJP’s national might put together. The PM, the HM, all Union Cabinet & State Ministers, 11 CMs, 200 MPs and over 100,000 other leaders put their might together as Goliath.

At stake are 70 Assembly Constituencies of a State which is a State more by name and less by Constitution. Yes, the head of National Capital Territory of New Delhi is called a Chief Minister, but he has no control over either Police or Land. The Centre controls the police and the land through its hand-picked Lt. Governor.

Counting for elections held on Saturday, Feb 8, 2020, starts at 8:00 AM but exit polls have given the State to Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party. The Pollsters predict AAP’s broom election symbol sweeping all the seven Parliamentary Segments with at least 80% seats in each segment with AAP.

In the elections held in 2015 BJP managed three and Congress couldn’t open its account.
