Any chaat lover cannot say no to bhel puri, another one of the favorite Indian chaats. Bhel puri is made by mixing various ingredients and topping it with imli ki saunth (sweet tamarind chutney) and green coriander and mint chutney. This Indian chaat is famous all over India and is a fairly light and low-fat snack. It’s easy to find bhel puri right from the road-side stalls to sea beach vendors to food courts in various big malls and offices to food counters in Indian weddings to big hotel buffet menus. This says a lot about how much it is loved by Indians across cultures. It’s also one of the quickest snacks to prepare and should be made just when you are ready to eat. There are many variations you can make to add or modify your own ingredients to have your very own bhel puri. Here, I give you one such variation which I have been making for years and is just loved by my family and friends. I’m sure you would love it too. Ingredients needed for Bhel Puri

  • Rice puffs –  3 cups
  • Onion – 1 (chopped)
  • Tomato – 1 (chopped)
  • Green chutney – 2 tbsp
  • Sweet chutney – 2 tbsp
  • Coriander – 2 tbsp (chopped)
  • Lemon – 1
  • Boiled potato – 2 (cubed)
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Chaat masala – 1/2 tsp
  • Sev – 1/2 cup

How to make Bhel Puri

  • Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Dish out in smaller bowls.
  • Garnish with sev and fresh coriander.
  • Serve immediately.
