Bharat Jodo Yatra, which started on September 7, is an initiative to unite the nation. Indian National Congress (INC) began the yatra in Kanyakumari and will end in Jammu and Kashmir. It has planned to cover around 12 states in 150 days.
Beginning of the Yatra
Bharat Jodo Yatra was initiated by the congress government to bring together the entire nation and to strengthen it. The yatra stands as a turning point in the history of India and is the biggest mass conduct program after independence.
State Congress leader, Kumari Ananthan, unfurled the Indian Flag and then began the yatra. The roads from Kanyakumari to Nagercoil were dotted with old and new pictures of Rahul Gandhi. Everyone was excited and spirited to be a part of it. The yatra lighted up the old spirits, as India has its history of padayatras. Old stories were remembered, and the efforts of veterans were praised as people took steps in the yatra.

In this Yatra, Rahul Gandhi interacted with children and was seen tying shoelaces and walking with party members.
BJP’s attack against Bharat Jodo Yatra started by Rahul Gandhi
BJP’s national president JP Nadda has attacked Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra by saying it is a false appearance against its “Bharat Todo” agenda. He even said that Congress stands with people who talk against India, and then they execute this kind of event.
He brought to light the incident of Afzal Guru and said that the Congress party stood with people who were against his execution. Nadda also talked about Rahul Gandhi Marching with Medha Patkar, a Narmada Bachao Adolan activist. He criticised Rahul Gandhi for being along with her, as she was the person who stood against Gujarat and became the reason the Sardar Sarovar project got delayed.
Congress on the criticism shown by BJP
Congress said that the criticism they have got from BJP shows the success of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Congress general secretary K C Venugopal told the reporters while replying to BJP’s comment about the yatra, “The BJP targeting the Bharat Jodo Yatra is a clear indication that the yatra is a big success, and it is troubling them very much. Why should we be worried, let them criticise,”
Moving forward with the yatra
While moving forward, the yatra moved to Madhya Pradesh and then reached the capital Delhi. In Delhi, Rahul Gandhi stood in front of the Red Fort and gave his speech to a vast crowd. He delivered his speech passionately, talked to the audience and even responded to their comments. He spoke about electronic media and how it affects people, although he asked the audience not to bear any ill will against it. The yatra is named ‘Sagar Se Pahar Tak’ in the state.
