What Is The Supreme Court Mobile App 2.0?

The app enables all government departments to check their pending cases.

The Chief Justice of India, Dr DY Chandrachud, launched the ‘Supreme Court Mobile App 2.0’ on December 7 while making an important announcement on the android version of the mobile app and asking the officials to use it. The app enables all government departments to check their pending cases. It allows the lawyers to track the instances in which they are appearing.

Regardless of the on-record lawyers and advocates, this app provides access to all the nodal officers and law officers of various Central Ministries. They can watch court proceedings by logging in through the app. The application, which existed earlier, allowed access to onboard advocates and lawyers.

It also allowed the officers to check the status of the cases, judgements and orders. During the pandemic, access was even given to a few media personnel to watch the court proceedings virtually and provide a report about that. The application provides access to the Attorney General of India, Additional Solicitor General of India and all other law officers to view the Government and central ministry cases filed in the Supreme Court.

Features of the Supreme court mobile app 2.0

The app provides services where one can check a cause list, case status, daily order, judgement, a certified copy of their case, SCR (State Case Registry), office report and a display board.

The application has several vital features where one can find detailed information about the Supreme Court of India, Legislative Department, Department of Legal Affairs, Constitution of India, Department of Justice and eGazette.

What is the importance of Supreme court mobile app 2.0?

Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud said it is a citizen-centric app developed by the e-committee of the Supreme Court, which was working hard the past year to bring digital reforms to the law. The pandemic has pushed lawyers, judges, advocates and other officers to adopt high-tech solutions.

As seen in the pandemic, this app virtually helped the media personnels to be in touch with the cases in the court. In this digitalized world, Supreme Court Mobile app is a way forward to bring change even in the sector of law. With the virtual availability of data, ministries, lawyers and even people who have filed a case can trace it without moving to court every single time. It will ease the work of people.
