4. Hey Ram (2000)

This Kamal Hassan starrer is a semi-fictional movie based on Gandhi’s role in the partition and also depicts the details of his assassination. The movie basically talks about the political and religious views during the time of partition and the divergent opinions surrounding them. The title of the film is kept as “Hey Ram” because these were the word uttered by Gandhi during his final moments. Co-starring actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Hema Malini, Naseeruddin Shah, Gandhi movie is  based on the life of a commoner named Saket Ram and influence over his life by Gandhi. The actors have given one of the finest performances in the movie.
