Spanning from the high reaches of the Himalayas in the North to the coastal plains in the South, the vast expanses of the Rann of Kutch in the West to the highlands covered with wet evergreen forests in the East, India is indeed a traveller’s delight with its remarkable diversity in the magnificent landscapes. It seems as though when God created the world, He paused a while and took a little extra care to create a beautiful canvas on India.

Pangong Tso Lake – Ladakh

The Pangong Tso Lake mesmerises with a surreal palette of vivid blues. The turquoise waters are in stark contrast with the surrounding stark snow clad mountains and indeed looks like a jewel in nature’s crown in India. Located at a height of 14,270 ft on the Himalayas, this is a saline water lake with no aquatic life in it. The lake is 134 km long and extends from China to India. The water is aquamarine and crystal clear and one can see the very bed of the lake. During winters the lake freezes over giving it an ethereal aura.

Approach to the beautiful Pangong Tso Lake is a five-hour drive from Leh.

Yumthang Valley Of Flowers- North Sikkim

God must have run out of colours when He painted the Valley of Flowers in the Yumthang Valley, at a height of 11,693 ft. During the spring months (Late February-June) this natural sanctuary with the tributary of the Teesta flowing through it, hot springs, and grazing pastures blooms with rhododendrons, primulas, poppies, iris and other flora. The countless flowers carpeting the valley is sure to take one’s breath away.

Approach to the Yumthang Valley is from Gangtok to Lachung by road.

Gurudongmar Lake- North Sikkim

Mere words cannot describe the beauty and the splendour of this lake. Located on a plateau at an altitude of 17,100 m above sea level, towards the North East of the mighty Kanchejunga, this lake is one of the highest lakes in the world. It is a freshwater lake located in the middle of a cold desert with no vegetation. The entire region resonates with the serenity and the calmness of the Gurudongmar Lake that will leave a traveller absolutely enthralled. During the winter months, the lake freezes over adding to its beauty.

The lake can be reached by road from Lachen via Thangu. Lachen is again a panoramic village at the foothills of the Himalayas.

Marble Rocks – Madhya Pradesh

One will be able to see the combined efforts of nature in all its glory at the Marble Rocks. Located along the Narmada River near Jabalpur, Marble Rocks is a spectacular gorge of 8 Km. The river has cut through and carved the soft marble along the way creating a natural delight.

Balancing Rock of Mahabalipuram, India

Known as Krishna’s Butter Ball, this massive granite boulder is 6 m high and 5 m wide and weighs 250 tonnes. It is listed as a historical monument by the Archaeological Survey of India. The Balancing Rock has been resting on a short incline of 1.2 m in the historical town of Mahabalipuram in India for 1200 years.

Salt Marshes, Rann of Kutch

The Salt Marshes in the Rann of Kutch are vast stretches of the colour white that will hypnotise and mesmerise the traveller. Located along the Luni River, the Salt Marshes cover 10,000 sq miles of land and are known as the White Desert. This geographical phenomenon is a flat, tortoise-shaped land, edged by the Gulf of Kutch and Great and Little Ranns.

Barren Island, Andaman

The Andamans have always been intriguing because of its remote location at 1370 km from the Indian mainland, and seem to be pearls placed in a sea of the most vivid blues. Adding further intrigue to these beautiful islands is the presence of the only active Volcano in India in the Andaman Sea. The Volcano is located on the Barren Island which is just about 3 Km in diameter, surrounded by crystal clear aquamarine waters. Lava flowers and coal gardens abound the region adding to the glory of the island.
