Tracking the Clean Ganga Project – good news galore

Clean Ganga Project

Clean Ganga Project

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which is the parent body of the BJP, has decided to help Narendra Modi with the project of cleansing river Ganga. The project named Integrated Ganga Conservation Mission or Namami Ganga happens to be the dream project of the Indian Prime Minister and now alongside many other entities such as the Supreme Court, the RSS too has expressed a wish to keep a watch on the process. This can only be good news for the PM of India. The RSS is supposed to create teams of volunteers for helping with the project that is expected to get underway soon.

A decision to this effect had been taken during a recent meeting attended by RSS office-bearers from its five zones through which the river passes in UP. The team of volunteers mentioned above is supposed to make regular visits to sites where the project is being executed and come back with regular reports on the condition and progress of the same to their superiors. If the superiors see that there is any problem or complacency in implementing the programme they shall be informing the Indian Government about the same.

PIOs and NRIs will now be able to donate to Clean Ganga Fund

The office-bearers are also supposed to get in touch with the Government officials who will be attached with the project. They shall also provide them suggestions on a regular basis so that they may be able to improve the way in which the project is being executed.

In more good news for the Clean Ganga project, people of Indian origin (PIOs) living in other countries and non-resident Indians (NRIs) shall now be able to make donations. This has been ratified in a decision by the Central Government and a fund has also been set up for the purpose. People who donate to the project from within India will be able to receive tax benefits. The same will be applicable for international donors as well.

Supreme Court quizzes Government

The apex judicial body in India, the Supreme Court, has once again asked the Indian Government as to how it is thinking of implementing the project to clean Ganga. It had previously asked the national administration to furnish a blueprint of the plans for cleaning the river that almost spans the length and breadth of the country. It has stated that it is happy with what the Government has come up but still posed questions as to how it will go about it.

Bill and Hillary Clinton praise Modi for Clean Ganga project

Narendra Modi, during his visit to the US, had a meeting with Hillary and Bill Clinton. They have praised him profusely for the work that he has done by way of attempting to clean the river. Bill Clinton has said that the approach that has been taken to execute the project is a smart one.
