Kapil Sharma is a famous comedian in the world of stand-up comedy. He was born and brought up in a Punjabi family in the city of Amritsar, Punjab. He is known for his stand-up comedy, hosting shows, and as an actor and producer of specific movies. He wanted to be a singer and came to Mumbai with this dream. He participated in Indian Idol but was rejected.

Early life

Kapil Punj, as Kapil Sharma, was born on April 2, 1981, in a Punjabi Brahmin family. His father, Jeetendra Kumar Punj, was honoured with the position of head constable in the Punjab Police, while his mother, Janak Rani, is a homemaker. His father was diagnosed with cancer in 1997. All four members’ responsibilities came on Kapil Sharma’s shoulders. Kapil has a brother, Ashok Kumar Sharma, a police constable, and a sister, Pooja Devgun.

He did his schooling at Shri Ram Ashram senior secondary school based in Amritsar. He further went to the Hindu college in Amritsar. Furthermore, he studied at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar. He did many odd jobs to collect money. Such as working in PCO or working in a cloth mill. As a college student, he attended classes and sang in Jagratas during the night to earn money. In 2004, his father died at AIIMS in Delhi.

Comedian Kapil Sharma tied the knot with Ginni Chatrath, an Indian actress and comedian. She made her debut on the TV show Hans Mat Baliye in 2009. In the same show, Kapil Sharma performed as a stand-up comedian. Kapil married Ginni Chatrath on December 12, 2018. He is now the proud father of Anayra Sharma, a two-year-old daughter, including a One-year-old son, Trishaan Sharma.

Professional CareerĀ 

He started his comedic journey in 2007 when he won the “Great Indian Laugh Challenge.” He moved to Mumbai to be a singer, but was rejected and participated in Sony’s show Comedy Circus. He was the winner of the season. Along with this, he hosted many reality shows, such as Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Season 6 and Chote Miya, which was a comedy show.

In 2008, he was a contestant in the show “Ustadon ka ustad”. Kapil Sharma launched his ” Comedy Nights with Kapil” show on Colors. He also co-hosted the 60th Filmfare Awards in 2015 with Karan Johar. He appeared as a guest at the opening ceremony of the 8th season of the Indian television game show “Kaun Banega Crorepati”. He was a chief guest on Karan Johar’s show, Coffee with Karan, in 2017.

He announced his new show with the same name, ” The Kapil Sharma Show,” produced by Salman Khan. In 2022, he told his biopic about his own life. The biopic is in process, with the working title “Funkaar”, directed by Mr Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.
