Plot: Kedarnath is like new wine in an old bottle. Two people from different faith and status fall in love and the family and society pressures take over. Mansoor (Sushant Singh Rajput) and Mandakini or Mukku (Sara Ali Khan) are two youngsters drawn to each other. The movie revolves around Mukku and Mansoor and their love which cannot be restricted despite the differences of their religion. Mansoor belongs to a poor family and works as a porter. His other job is to take pilgrims to the Shiv temple and vice versa. Mansoor is full of life, jolly and leaves no stone unturned to make the journey of the pilgrims worth remembering. On the other hand, Mukku is a high caste Hindu and a daughter of a rich Hindu pandit. She is bubbly, vivacious, and hot-headed. Mukku is betrothed to Kullu (Nishant Dahiya), who is a businessman and wants to build hotels and lodges in the holy town of Kedarnath for commercial gains. Despite being engaged to Kullu, Mukku falls for Mansoor. The film Kedarnath is set in the backdrop of the catastrophic 2013 Uttarakhand floods which claimed thousands of lives.

Review: Kedarnath is Sara Ali’s debut movie and she has given a performance worthy of applause. Sara has beautifully portrayed the character of a hot-headed girl and sharp-tongued girl who also has a blend of elegance and simplicity. She has left a strong impression through this movie as a newcomer. Sushant Singh, too, has given a scintillating performance and is unlike the action hero who flexes his muscles at the slightest provocation. He has acted well throughout the movie with ease and a lot of freshness. He has done justice to his role as a poor Muslim youngster. Nevertheless, the intensity needed in such types of movies is missing in Kedarnath. The writing of the movie is flat and on the whole, Kedarnath is mediocre. It is the acting of Sara and Sushant which makes this movie worth a watch.

Our verdict: Despite the minute flaws, the movie is a pleasant watch. There are moments in the film when it strikes a chord with the viewer. So, go and watch the movie; it would surely make your weekend fun.
