RRR Movie review: Unmissable as it shows a glimpse of India in 1920s

Once again, after Bahubali parts one and two, SS Rajamouli has succeeded in delivering a blockbuster movie, RRR, in front of the Indian audience. This epic movie is packed with action, bromance, superheroes, and mythology. This movie has been released in two languages – Hindi and Telugu. The two big superstars of the south movie industry – Jr NTR and Ram Charan, are the lead actors in the movie, making it more impressive.

The story is set in 1920s Delhi where two persons, i.e. Komaram Bheem (Junior NTR) and Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan), play the role of close friends. But they don’t know about each other. As for the British Empire, their intentions differ from each other in their approach. In the movie, the British are ruling India. The wife (Alison Doody) of a British officer Scott Buxton [Ray Stevenson], becomes impressed by a tribal girl, Malli and forcibly, by showing her status and power, takes the girl, Malli, away to Delhi from her native village. This comes as a shocker to her parents and the rest of the tribe of the town.

Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) belongs to the tribe of the village, which promises Malli’s parents to bring her back to them from the Britishers. When Britishers come to know about Bheem’s intention, they decide to follow him at any cost, but the central part here is that no one knows about his appearance of Bheem which gives him an advantage. So a police officer named Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) takes up the challenge to trace Bheem at any cost. The entire movie is based on what will happen when these two will cross paths with each other.

The first half of the movie is slower than the second half. It has some emotional friendship scenes and fewer action scenes. In the second half, the movie’s climax makes it more interesting to watch. The good thing is that the film manages to surprise you.
Rajamouli cleverly uses some of the facts established in the film’s early parts in later parts. Actress Alia Bhatt has a concise role in the movie, and she does justice to her role. At the same time, actor Ajay Devgan’s position is very well written and directed, making him another strong character in the movie.

‘Nacho Nacho’ in the soundtrack features a hit number, while ‘Sholay’ [end credits] is a fitting track to end the film. The cinematography and production design are superb and do full justice to the film’s scale. Rama Rajamouli’s costumes are always well researched and do justice to every character. Action sequences are exciting and make the audience’s jaw drop. The emotional component present in the movie is balanced with subtle humour, drama, action pieces and some stunning visuals that leave the audience in awe.

Overall, it is a fascinating movie directed by SS Rajamouli. If you want a glimpse of 1920s India, then you should not miss this movie. So grab your popcorn on a weekend or any other day of your choice and watch this blockbuster movie.
