Surrounded by lush, evergreen forests of sal and oak, Darjeeling boasts of its pristine scenic views and overwhelming charm. The heart-stealing chemistry of Barfi and Jhilmil was best portrayed by Anurag Basu, in the backdrops of Darjeeling. It is also the place where Saif enjoyed “Kasto Mazza hai railaima” ,during his joy ride in the Toy Train, while SRK sang “Kiska Hai Ye Tumko Intezaar” at St Paul’s School for his movie Main Hoon Na.
With its extensive tea plantations and Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, which is also UNESCO’s World Heritage Site, Darjeeling assures a memorable trip for all. Early morning go to the Tiger Hills to see dawn showering over the world’s third-highest peak – Mt Kanchenjunga. Rejoice in the views of the majestic Himalayas as the Toy Train swirls amidst gorgeous hills. Visit one of the oldest tea estates there, Happy Valley Tea Estate to experience how the best tea is picked, processed and packed for you. And if there is still something missing, shop at Chowrasta. You will find cafes, book stores, tea wholesalers and above all a chance to absorb the culture of Darjeeling. Ghoom and Butia Busty are monasteries that can also be kept on your list.
