4 May 2016: People of Uttarakhand got some repsite from the forest fire after light to moderate rains hit the higher reaches of the mountains on Tuesday. Meanhwile, the forets fire has alsready claimed seven lives. According to media reports, 3,465 hectares of forests in Uttarakhand were affected and Tirchakheet is one of the villages worst hit in the fire.


30 April 2016: A major wildlifre spread over the ground and reached the village named Tirchakheet (10 Km from Bhowali). The fire turned houses into burning torches with the ground flooded with pine cones and dry leaves. What followed were seven or eight major fires in Garhwal, which were considered fresh fires. Three teams of the National Disaster Response Force were deployed for Garhwal and Kumaon regions, with about 6,000 forest staff struggling to bring the flames under control. A Mi-17 chopper of the IAF was also stationed near Bhimtal. It sprayed water fetched from the Bhimtal Lake.
