More political leaders have cast their vote. Goa CM Pramod Sawant has cast his vote. Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel, too, has exercised his franchise in Bharuch. Jagadish Shettar, the former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP leader, has cast his vote in Karnataka’s Hubballi-Dharwad.

Voter Arrested in Thiruvananthapuram

A voter named Abin Babu has been arrested in Thiruvananthapuram after he made a false complaint regarding the malfunctioning in the polling machine. Reportedly, he said that his vote went to a candidate different for whom he cast his vote. Babu was voting at Vattiyoorkavu’s booth no. 151.

Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party (SP) founder, has exercised his franchise in the phase 3 of the polling. He is contesting from Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh. Singh was also accompanied by his son, daughters-in-law, and wife. Ex Pm Manmohan Singh has also cast his vote.

Clash in Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir

As per the reports, there has been a clash at Anantnag’s polling booth. Apparently, there has been a  fist fight between the polling agents of the National Conference and PDP. The fight only ended when security personnel interfered. It’s due to security reasons the polling here has been held in 3 phases here.

The average voting percentage has been declared for Assam by 3 PM. The state has clocked more than half – 62.13 % voters. The constituencies Dhubri records 67.12%, Barpeta 60.38%, Gauhati 58.23%, Barpeta 60.38%, and Kokrajhar (ST) 63.36%.

2 Voters Died in Kerala

As per the reports, two voters have died in Kerala. A news agency has reported that two senior citizens were waiting for their turn to vote but died after collapsing. One incident took place at  Chokli Rama Vilasam L P School booth where 65-year-old Vijayi died. Another happened at  Vadasserikkara where 80-year-old Pappachan breathed his last.

In yet another incident in West Bengal, reports have emerged that a voter was killed. The person died due to the injuries in Murshidabad. Apparently, he came in-between the clashes of Congress and TMC workers.

More Violence at Polling Booths in West Bengal

The acts of violence have been increasing in West Bengal. Some have witnessed bombing at Raninagar, Murshidabad’s booth no 27 and 28. A handful of men were behind the attack. However, the locals couldn’t see their faces clearly and hence can’t identify them.

More Violence Reports in West Bengal

Yet another incident of violence has been reported in West Bengal. At the Maldaha Uttar constituency, there are reports of beating up of a BJP member Sagar Roy. It is alleged that he was trying to record on his phone the attacks. The attackers were trying to capture Chachol’s booth no 173.

Violence Reported in West Bengal

West Bengal has witnessed violence in the third phase of Lok Sabha polling. As per the reports, the BJP camp office was vandalised by the TMC workers. Following this, the TMC’s camp office has been ransacked by the BJP workers. This has resulted in the escalation of the dispute between the two.

Akhilesh Yadav Alleges of Country-Wide EVM Malfunctioning

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that the malfunctioning of EVMs is taking place all over India. He took to Twitter to brought the issue to light. He tweeted “EVMs across India malfunctioning or voting for the BJP. DMs say poll officials untrained to operate EVMs. 350+ being replaced. This is criminal negligence for a polling exercise that costs Rs 50,000 crs. Should we believe DMs @ECISVEEP, or is something far more sinister afoot?”

Voting Boycotted in Lok Sabha Constituency of East Tripura

The polling has been boycotted by as many as 20 families in the East Tripura Lok Sabha constituency. They have done so to protest the assault by a paramilitary force’s troops on a local youth.

Amidst the frequent EVM malfunctioning, the Wayanad’s NDA candidate Thushar Vellappally has demanded the re-polling. In a South Goa’s polling booth, an entire set of EVMs has been replaced, as per a Chief Electoral Officer.

The Sabarimala-sensitive constituency Pathanamthitta has picked up on voter turnout after starting on a dull note. The turnout was lower than 2% in the first hour, when other constituencies were at the 3% mark.

The voting has been stopped in Thiruvananthapuram constituency’s Chowara booth after votes cast for Congress went to BJP. States like Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha have reported technical problems in EVMs.

By 9 AM, Assam has recorded 12.38% turnout. The voter percentage for its parliamentary constituencies are Gauhati 12.38%, Barpeta 11.71%, Kokrajhar 10.14%, and Dhubri 14.52%. Goa reports 13% turnout. Its constituencies Shiroda has clocked 13.18%, Mandrem 13.05%, and Mapusa 14.47%. Maharashtra has witnessed 8.21%. Ahmednagar records 4.97%, Satara 6.8%, and Sangli 6.71%.

The voter turnout by 9 AM has been reported for various constituencies of West Bengal. The percentage is good if considered the number of hours elapsed since the beginning of the polling. Murshidabad reports 17.54%, Jangipur 17.54%, Maldaha Dakshin 16.22%, Maldaha Uttar 16.22%, Balurghat 17.28%. The average voter turnout in the state is 16.94%.

EVM malfunctioning has been reported in Assam from several polling booths. Glitch reports have also been reported in Kerala. Here the CM Pinarayi Vijayan has heavily criticised the Election Commission for the EVM problems. He accused the Commission of not taking enough measures to prevent the faults in the machines.

In Kerala, all 20 seats are going for polling. Here in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Shashi Tharoor (Congress), the two-time sitting MP, is contesting against Kummanam Rajasekharan (BJP), who is an ex-governor, and C. Divakaran (CPI). Here people have turned out in great number since morning. The main issue surrounding this constituency is the Sabarimala issue.

In the first time of democratic India, Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir is going to poll in 3 phases. Here the elections are curtailed because during the last phase, para-military forces had to face stone pelting while moving back. 300 para-military forces have been deployed to ensure safe elections. Here Mehbooba Mufti from PDP is fighting against Ghulam Ahmad Mir (Congress), Sofi Yousuf (BJP), and Hasnain Masoodi (NC). She has a lot to prove since her last government was dumped by BJP.

A similar situation is being seen in Kalyan Singh ADC village in Tripura where people are in the grip of fever for more than a week now.

Polling has begun for the phase 3 of the Lok Sabha polls. BS Yeddyurappa’s son BY Raghavendra has cast his vote. As per the reports, roughly 18.56 crore people are eligible to vote in this phase. Amit Shah will be seen making debut in Lok Sabha election from Gandhinagar.

After the whirlwind voting for the second phase of Lok Sabha polls 2019, the third phase is just around the corner, scheduled for April 23, 2019. A total of 117 constituencies across 13 States and 2 Union Territories will go to the polls.

All parliamentary constituencies in Daman and Diu (1), Goa (2), Dadra and Nagar Haveli (1), Kerala (20), Tripura(1) and Gujarat (26) are gearing up for polls in a single phase on April 23.
