Central Command
Headquarters: Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
Based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, the Central Command was established during the time of World War II in 1942 but was later disbanded in 1946. It was later re-established on 1 May 1963 due to the Sino-Indian War which took place in 1962. Lt Gen K Bahadur Singh served as the first Army Commander of the Central Command. Currently, Lt General Abhay Krishna is the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of this command.
