The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts a number of examinations across the year for various posts. These days the whole system has been taken online and as such students are supposed to fill up the form at the official website itself. This allows them to take part in various examinations. However, it has also been seen that students keep making mistakes while filling up these application forms and that is the reason why their forms are rejected. However, you need not worry as there are several steps that you can follow in this regard and make sure that you do not commit silly mistakes. Just make sure that you notice them carefully before you submit your form.

Filling it up online

If you are appearing at the Mains 2017 exam you can visit the official website – upsc.gov.in – where the Detailed Application Form (DAF) has been updated. If you have already cleared the preliminary examination you would have to fill up this DAF so that you are able to appear for UPSC Civil Services Mains Examination 2017. At this time you would also need to upload scanned copies of certain documents as specified in the form.

You should start off by visiting the official website and then clicking on the link that says DAF: Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2017. After this you need to click on the link that says Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2017. Once you have got in you would need to enter your login ID, which is basically your roll number and password. After this you would need to fill up the form. Once you have received confirmation that the form has been filled up properly you would have to take a printout of the confirmation page for more reference.

Some important details

The last date to fill up the form is 31 August 2017 till 6 pm. The examination would be held on 28 October 2017, which happens to be a Saturday. The government is looking to fill up around 980 vacancies through this examination. The preliminary stage features mainly objective questions for selecting candidates who would appear in the main examination. The mains feature written tests and interviews.

It was in July 2017 that the results of the prelims were declared. This year the tests would be held at the following venues:

Candidates belonging to the OBC (other backward castes) group would need to fill in the necessary details as well. The female candidates as well as ones belonging to the following categories would not need to pay any fee:

  • Scheduled caste (SC)
  • Scheduled tribe (ST)
  • Physically handicapped

OBC candidates would however need to pay the full fees. Last but definitely not the least, all candidates need to keep in mind that if they make any mistake – no matter how big or small it is – their forms would be rejected. At the same time, if they fill it up correctly within the prescribed time limit and with the correct documents they will receive electronic confirmation from UPSC in form of an email.
