Third Test Match, Day4: India have come back strongly in the series in the third test match after losing the first two games. In the third test match after Joe Root inserted India after winning the toss, the Indian batsmen made the most of the batting conditions which surprisingly were good just after the opening hour of the test. This is what you get with the English weather, one session it can be cloudy and gloomy and the next session the ground will be baked in sunshine. Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, missed out on his second century of the series when he was dismissed for 97 off Adil Rashid. Rahane came back roaring into form with a polished 81. Their contributions took India to a first innings total of 329. Indian innings ended in the first session under dark skies which made bowling a bit easier.

Indian bowlers made full use of the conditions and skitted England all out inside a longish middle session on second day for 161 thus gaining a lead of 168 runs. In the second innings Indians batted slowly but solidly and this time Kohli did complete his century. India declared just an hour before close at 352 for 7 giving England an improbable target of 521 runs to win the test.

Hardik Pandya scored a fifty in second innings to go along with his maiden five wicket haul when India were bowling. India will be pushing for a win on the fourth day of the third test thus making the series interesting at 2-1. The next test begins on the 30th August at Southampton.

Second Test Match, Day 1: The day 1 of the second test was indeed frustrating for both the teams. The persistant rains did not let the match to happen between India and England at Lord’s on Thursday. Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root not only crossed the half-century mark but also the score of 216/3 on the scoreboard. With this performance, they were about to take the match away from the hands of the touring side, when the Indian captain, Virat Kohli ran out Root at 80 runs. The Indian team took five more wickets after Root till stumps. England only managed to add 69 runs more to the total score and wrapped up the match with 285/9.

India take on England in the first of five Test match series at Edgbaston. England being the home team would be looking to take advantage of the familiar conditions, while India would be looking to overcome the embarrassment faced by the team in the Test series in 2014, after losing out 3-1. Team India won the T-20 International series 2-1, while England won the ODI series with same scoreline. The England team have announced a 13-man squad for the first Test, while India has announced an 18-man squad for the first three Test. The match is scheduled to take place at 3:30 PM IST tomorrow.

England team announced a 13-member squad for the first Test match against India starting from August 1, to be played at Edgbaston. One of the major talking point during the announcement of England’s Test squad was the surprise inclusion of leg-spinner Adil Rashid. He has been a regular in the England squad for the T-20 internationals and ODI, but the right-arm spinner got a call-up to the England Test team after being two years away from the longest format. Adil made his last appearance for England in a Test match against India in Chennai, two years back in 2016. In England, County Championship plays an important role in the selection process for Tests, Adil represents Yorkshire, however, in his recent contract extension with his county club he opted to play 4-day Test matches for the Yorkshire. His inclusion in the team raised eyebrows among the former player and experts, as they vented out frustration on the absurd inclusion.

Kuldeep Yadav has been rewarded for his scintillating bowling displays during the recently concluded ODI series against England with a call-up to the Test squad for the upcoming 5-match Test series in England. Board of Cricket Control in India announced the Test squad for the first three Tests, while giving wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant his maiden Test call-up in the 18-players squad. Seasoned Test campaigners Ishant Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Cheteshwar Pujara have been recalled to the Test side. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Wriddhiman Saha are the notable absentees from the India’s Test squad, although, BCCI is still assessing Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s apparent back injury suffered during the third and last ODI. India A captain Karun Nair, currently playing playing in the UK has made it into the team as a reserved batsman by trumping Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli returns to the Test fold and will be leading the charge against England, as India looks to bounce back from the defeat in ODI series and register a Test series win on the English soil after 11 years.

Joe Root continued his mesmerising form with a second successive century as England clinched the third and decisive ODI in a series deciding match. England put up yet another all-round performance with bat and bowl to avenge for their T-20 series defeat by winning the three-match ODI series 2-1. England won the toss and decided to put Team India to bat first, Indian openers got off to a shaky start with Rohit dismissed early. However, Captain Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan steadied the ship for India, before Mahendra Singh Dhoni and the tail-enders contributed meagerly. India would be looking to clinch yet another series on the English soil before heading into the five-match Test series that begins from August 1. Team India would be hoping for the top-order to continue their mesmerising form that saw them decimate the English bowlers throughout the tour up until now, as the middle order is yet to click. English team will be looking to negate the left-arm orthodox spinner Kuldeep Yadav who bamboozled the English batting line-up with a superb bowling display in the first and second ODI. The resurgent England team would be looking to avenge the defeat in the T-20 series and make the fans and spectators across the country proud by winning the ODI series, with the three-match series tied at 1-1.

England bounced back with an emphatic victory over the visitors after the defeat in first ODI to set a series decider on 17th July at Headingley. Team India’s Kuldeep Yadav continued his fine form with the ball and picked up 3 wickets but this time he proved to be expensive along with other bowlers in the team. Indian openers came out to chase down the total however faltered from the beginning with last match’s centurion Rohit Sharma getting out for measly 15 runs. None of the Indian batsman could convert the starts into a big-knock, everyone from thereon chipped in with small contributions including Captain Kohli who fell short of a fifty by five runs. Eventually, the rising run-rate and faltering of wickets saw Men in Blue getting all-out for 236 with England’s Liam Plunkett dismantling the Indian batting line-up with 4-for-46. However, the star performer of the day was Kuldeep Yadav who put up a Man of the Match performance with scintillating bowling display by picking up 6 wickets for 25 runs in his 10 overs. England team were put into bat first as Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bowl, with English batsmen getting off to a good start before failing to convert them into big knocks, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler steadied the ship for England with both batsmen hitting 50s before becoming a scalp of Kuldeep Yadav. Man of the Match Kuldeep Yadav tore apart the English batting line-up and restricted them to a total of 268 runs. Team India came out to chase down the total with centurion Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan setting up a formidable platform for the latter batsmen to reach the target comfortably.

India and England are set to lock horns once again as this time around the teams will be battling it out to clinch the ODI Series starting from today at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. After an impressive run of form during the T-20 International series, India will be looking to dominate the three-match ODI series in a similar fashion. On the other hand, No. 1 ODI team England, would be looking to avenge the defeat suffered in the T-20 series and return to the scintillating form that has seen them rise to the top of the ODI rankings. Bumrah is racing against time to be fit before the test series begins on 1 August, but it is likely that he will be fit in time for the second test match of the 5-match test series.

India clinched the three-match T-20 International against England in the most emphatic way, chasing down the target of 199 set by England.
