The 71st Cannes Film Festival is sparkling with glamour and the dazzle of celebs. And like every year, our Bollywood celebrities have been gracing the red carpet in their haute couture dresses. From Aishwarya’s structured demeanour to Kangana’s far-out impression, French Riviera has witnessed the entire spectrum of glitz and glam with aplomb. Let’s have a look at our star queens and what they wore!
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Now, there is no Cannes festival complete without her presence. This has been Aishwarya’s 17th Cannes festival and we’ve to admit she’s evolving. Her butterfly-inspired gown was as much a treat to the shutterbugs as it was delicious for the media to write about. This Michael Cinco creation had a 3-meter long train with pink, aqua, purple mix of intricate pattern. And equal attention was commanded by her eye make-up – purple glitter’s specks accentuated the end of her winged eyes. A completely stunning look!
For her second appearance, she decided to don a shimmery outfit paired with minimal jewellery and soft rose lip colour. And this time her hairdo was the stand-out feature. Pulled up in high-bun, some hair strands were gelled to stick out. Her on-point eye make-up boasted of an intense black liner culminated with a silver wing.
Deepika has taken a complete 180-degree turn from her typical conventional appearances this time. She sported a top knot hairdo which is so unusual from her regular slick buns. Her pink and smokey black make-up was another talking point for the fashion magazines. But what really caught the attention was her dramatic pink gown. And then what really coupled her zany look was her playfully sticking out her tongue for the cameras! We got to love her for that.
Sonam Kapoor is no stranger to flaunting desi wardrobes at the international platforms. But what impresses us the most this time is the royal touch associated with her embellished off-white Ralph and Russo lehenga. And how can we overlook her braid adorably accessorised by a parandi? A complete stunner! However, she chose to keep her make up simple- nude pink lip colour with kohl-rimmed eyes- which considering her calm-vibe lehenga was not a bad choice at all. This has been newly wed Sonam’s seventh appearance at the Cannes and the cheery beauty is getting better with every appearance.
This was Kangana’s first appearance at Cannes and with her maiden walk itself, she has declared that she wouldn’t walk the beaten path. In an event with an attendance of top celebrities, Kangana boldly chose to shun flowy gowns for wardrobes with glittering designs and trickier silhouettes. Her high-voltage appearance combined with plunging neckline, needless to say, has opened ways to new trends.
Now Sherawat came as a bit of disappointment among the celebs who were experimenting with fabrics, make-ups, and overall style factor, trying to clad-up in ways which appear ahead of their time. Her off shoulder shell pink gown, although, lovely was a far cry from getting her noticed appreciably at the grandeur of Cannes. Her soft curls and nude make-up could not bring anything new to the table either. A little bit of risk taking could have saved the day for her. Anyways, better luck next time.
That was Cannes 2018. Hoping to see some even more quirky and stunning avatars of Bollywood divas in Cannes 2019. Till then we can look forward to stealing some cool makeup ideas from their looks!
